ABSTRACT

(The Constitutional Significance of Dimitri Uznadze’s Theory of Set in Contemporary Georgia). The aim of this article is to reflect on public and civic responsibility in a democratic state through interpretation of Dimitri Uznadze’s theory of set. Through an interdisciplinary study, the article seeks, on the one hand, to answer the question of how necessary an adequate public mindset is for the normal functioning of democratic institutions within the state. This issue is particularly relevant in view of the fact that, in contemporary Georgia, certain groups propose radical and revolutionary approaches in shaping the agenda of socio-political life. On the other hand, the article aims to demonstrate the importance of national and emotional factors in the formation of a constitutional mindset within both domestic and foreign policy contexts of the country.
